DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND ENERGY

ELECTRICAL PROGRAM

In the electrical program, practical education and training are provided on the subjects of installing and operating all kinds of electrical installations and machines, designing electrical materials and units subject to manufacturing in related production areas and drawing installation projects. Graduates of this program work as technical intermediate staff in public and private institutions, and if they wish, they can open a private workplace.

They are researchers, capable and skilled, who can follow every technological innovation in the constantly developing industrial world, keep up with the current situation. The electrical program is still one of the most valid professions today. In today's world where energy and technology are changing and advancing rapidly, there is always a need for well-educated and self-educated electrical technicians. The opportunities for electrical technicians who graduate from this program to work and find a job cover a very wide area.

Purpose of the Program: In the electrical program, practical education and training are provided on the subjects of installing and operating all kinds of electrical installations and machines, designing electrical materials and units subject to manufacturing in related production areas and drawing installation projects.

Duration of Education: Electrical technician education is 2 years after high school, and during the 2-year (4 semesters) education, students are taught practical lessons.

The Titles and Jobs of Graduates: Graduates of this program are given the title of "Electrical Technician". Electrical technicians work as technical intermediaries between engineers and technicians in the institutions they work.

Working Environment and Conditions: Electrical technicians work in buildings and power plants. Although the working environment varies depending on where the installation is installed, they usually work in closed environments. While repairing malfunctions in electrical distribution systems, they may need to work in difficult conditions by climbing to high places in different weather conditions. Carelessness while performing the task can lead to serious accidents. Electrical technicians are primarily concerned with devices, tools and materials. Sometimes they can work as a team with the people they work with and sometimes they can communicate with customers.

Work Areas and Job Finding Opportunities: Professionals can work in public and private institutions, as well as independently. They can work in organizations such as Turkish Electricity Distribution Inc., Turkish Radio and Television Corporation, State Hydraulic Works, Machinery and Chemistry Institute, General Directorate of Rural Services, and various ministries, especially the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
