Department of Electricity and Energy
Electrical Program
In the electrical program, practical training and education is provided on
the installation and operation of all kinds of electrical installations and
machines, the design of electrical materials and units that are subject to
manufacturing in related production areas, and the drawing of installation
projects. Graduates of this program work as technical intermediate staff in
public and private organizations, and can open a private business if they wish.
In the constantly developing industrial world, they are researchers, have
the capacity and skills to follow every technological innovation, keep up to
date. The electrical program is still one of the most valid professions today.
In today's world where energy and technology are rapidly changing and
advancing, there is always a need for well-trained and willing electrical
technicians. Electrical technicians who graduate from this program have a wide
range of employment opportunities.
Purpose
of the Program: In the electrical
program, practical training and education is provided on the installation and
operation of all kinds of electrical installations and machines, the design of
electrical materials and units that are subject to manufacturing in related production
areas, and the drawing of installation projects.
Education
Duration: Electrical technician
education is 2 years after high school, and students are given practical
lessons during the 2-year (4 semesters) education.
Titles
Earned by Graduates and Works They Do:
Graduates of this program are given the title of "Electrical
Technician". Electrical technicians work as technical intermediaries
between engineers and technicians in the institutions where they work.
Working
Environment and Conditions: Electrical
technicians work in buildings and power plants. Although the working
environment varies depending on where the installation is installed, they
generally work in closed environments. While repairing malfunctions in
electrical distribution systems, they may be required to work in difficult
conditions by climbing to high places in different weather conditions.
Carelessness while performing the task can lead to serious accidents.
Electrical technician is primarily concerned with devices, tools and materials.
Sometimes he/she can work as a team with co-workers and sometimes communicate
with customers.
Application Areas
* In the construction industry, indoor installation and lighting systems
* In outdoor electricity distribution and transmission systems in the
construction industry
* In factory automation systems
* Transformer maintenance and repair works
* On ships, sea transportation vehicles
* In the automotive industry
* Electrical device maintenance-repair and other installation works of
factories
* Maintenance, repair and operation of electrical medical devices
* In the use, operation and repair works of all kinds of devices that use
electricity.
Professional Advancement Opportunities
